Canelé is a small French pastry flavored with rum, vanilla with a soft, tender custard center and a dark and thick caramelized crust. It takes the shape of a small, striated cylinder with a depression at the top. A specialty of the Bordeaux region of France, Canelé is traditionally baked in a small cylindrical fluted mold are brushed with beeswax.

For an optimal tasting experience, enjoy at room temperature.

History of the Canelé:
The canelé is believed to originate in either the 15th or the 18th century from a monastery, in Bordeaux the religious nuns picked up the fallen grains of wheat from the broken bags, or in the boats floor. the port of Bordeaux was a busy commercial place, they made the canneles to feed the poor or sell them in the monastery
at the beginning of the 20th century, a Parisian chef decided to add vanilla and rum to the recipe.
